Ideal for riders seeking a more connected, mindful, and individualized approach to horsemanship.

At Mango Bay Equestrian and Wellness with Horses, our lesson program is intentionally designed differently from traditional riding schools. Our focus is not simply on riding progression, but on creating thoughtful horse people through relationship, awareness, horsemanship, and a horse-first approach to learning.

Our horses are not treated as tools for back-to-back lessons. Each horse in our program is carefully managed with their physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing in mind. Many of our horses are actively rebuilding strength, confidence, relaxation, or balance, and because of this, lessons often focus heavily on foundational work, body awareness, communication, and connection both on the ground and under saddle.

Lessons are offered in a semi-private format with no more than three students per session. This creates a calmer, more supportive environment for both horses and humans while allowing students to learn through observation, discussion, and shared experience.

Our program moves at the pace of the horse. Progression is not based on a fixed timeline or traditional riding milestones, and students should not expect a conventional “walk-trot-canter” lesson structure. Some horses currently participate primarily in walk-based work and groundwork while continuing to develop strength and confidence.

Included in each package are additional approved bonding and practice sessions. These sessions allow students to spend time developing relationship and horsemanship skills outside of formal lessons through activities such as grooming, groundwork, mindfulness practices, hand walking, and quiet connection time with the horses.

This program is best suited for individuals who value patience, partnership, emotional awareness, horse welfare, and a more intentional approach to horsemanship.

Because of the individualized nature of our program and the limited workload we ask of our horses, lesson availability is intentionally limited and application based.
